DVBIC fulfills its mission through outreach and educational activities for active-duty service members, veterans, their families, and health care providers about TBI management from prevention to recovery. Through the effort of Regional Education Coordinators (RECs) and the A Head for the Future initiative, DVBIC outreach aims to increase awareness about how to prevent and reduce the consequences of mild-to-severe TBI.
Regional Education Coordinators
The regional education coordinator network promotes the DVBIC mission by conducting outreach across the MHS and VA from military treatment facilities and VA hospitals. Working with service members, veterans, their families, and caregivers — RECs provide useful resources and tools on the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and symptom management of TBI. RECs also provide training and education of evidence-based TBI resources to health care providers, clinicians, and members of the greater health care community.
